This was one of six works I did for Lyme Regis 'Artsfest' annual town arts festival. As it was a coastal town I drew inspiration from around me focusing on creative works relating to the sea with underlying hints to themes of birth, life and death. This particular painting incorporated some sand and other mixed media to add depth as well as texture to the work. The archway, although decayed represents a gateway to or from a life of adventure; it stands formidable and yet eroded by the sea, a symbols of the strength of the will to live but also the inevitability of the passage of time and decay. A thoughtful piece to say the least.
